The Pitmaster

The man behind the smoke.

Established in 2019, Rick's Backyard BBQ is a tribute to the memories of watching his father grill in their backyard as he grew up β€” summer evenings filled with family, laughter, and the smell of barbecue in the air.

Inspired by his father's belief that food keeps a family together, Rick set out to build a space where loved ones could gather and connect. Today, his backyard barbecue carries that legacy forward, one plate at a time.

"Once you have Rick's ribs, you'll never be the same. I tried to tell ya."

Is this the old Uncle Dewey's spot?
Rick's Backyard BBQ sits on Route 40, where the longtime local BBQ spot Uncle Dewey's Pavilion used to be. It's also one town over from the original Kingfish spot, owned by Chef Rick's great uncle β€” a stretch of road with a long history of good roadside smoke.
